Chill Panda is a new type of app that allows children and adults to start to understand how their bodies respond to different feelings. To start learning about this you can use the app to take your heart rate, use a simple scale to rate your feelings, and then do some play based activities demonstrated to you by a panda avatar. It aims to enhance self-regulation of emotions by introducing ideas and skills that could help children and families understand the relationship between their feelings, body sensations and different activities.

How does it work?
Increased heart rate and feeling stressed are closely related. By reflecting on your actions and the effect they have on your heart rate you can begin to learn what helps you feel better.

The heart rate monitor app detects your pulse by using the camera on your phone or tablet. As your heart beats, the volume of the blood flowing through your finger tip changes. Chill Panda uses the camera on your mobile phone to capture your heart beats.

Instruction:

a) Follow Panda as he shows you how to put your finger on the camera of your phone
b) The light (the flash or torch) on your phone will come on, it is this light that allows us to measure your heart rate. You don't need to cover the light with you finger just the camera.
c) Wait and Panda will take your heart rate.

This is not a medical device. Heart rates are shown only for guidance. This app does not replace treatment, if you are concerned about anxiety or depression please see your General Practitioner (GP) or a medical professional.

Camara permission is needed for measuring heartrate and microphone permission is needed for one of the mini-games that requires you to blow into it.

I downloaded the app after buying the game for switch. It works good on switch. Slightly quirky on cell. The directions are on the "hidden" menu and that might be why a lot of people are frustrated . its meant to be a vague guide and it does just that . some moves are hard to copy because its not very clear cut with the chubby panda. Overall i like it. I use app on the go. And play it on the switch before bedtime.

I'm an adult, so I'm not exactly the demographic this app's aimed at, but I have anxiety, so I thought I'd give it a go anyway. It's cute! It has some helpful exercises & activities, & is something to focus on when external surrounds may be causing anxiety, or when anxious thoughts are present. My only critique is that the controls when moving around the map, & when colouring in pictures, are a little tricky, & would benefit from some improvement. Aside from that, it's great - good work, devs!

They were right when they said they aren't doctors! The activities section is this horrible neon green, which gave me a headache it was so bright. The bpm feature doesnt work either. All it does is estimate your heart rate, and when you input how you are feeling, it just repeats it back to you! The 'game' itself is annoying. It's impossible to control, I spent ages trying to get it to move, and it just stressed me out!
